Sewanee, Tenn. - The Hendrix Warriors picked up their first conference win of the season on Friday night, defeating the Sewanee Tigers 57-41 at Juhan Gymnasium.
The two sides were level 18-18 at half, before the Warriors stormed out to a 37-25 lead by the start of the fourth quarter.
Madi Pierce led all scorers with 20 points.
Blysse Harmon added another double-double to her 2022-23 tally with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Simone Shields and
Bella Cates each contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds.
The Warriors only shot 30.5% from the field but were absolutely dominant on the boards, out-rebounding the Tigers 49-37. Sewanee struggled with Hendrix's relentless second-half defense and could only muster a 26.4 FG%.
The Warriors improve to 4-9 (1-1 SAA) and will head to Danville, Kentucky to take on the Centre Colonels on January 8. Tip-off is set for 11:00 AM CT from Alumni Gym.
