Box Score Mount Berry, Ga. - A week after their thrilling 50-49 win over Rhodes in Little Rock, the Hendrix Warriors hit the road to take on #24 Berry with a chance to cement their place in the top four of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) standings.
But Berry would prove to be a different animal entirely
The Warriors held Berry to 56 yards through the air, but that stat was purely academic as Vikings' ground game pummeled Hendrix with 460 yards rushing.
Jason Sullivan led the Orange and Black with 45 yards rushing on 13 carries.
Josh Hayes filled in for
Jacob Buniff at quarterback, completing 10 passes on 27 attempts for 93 yards.
Parker Turley's completion to Sullivan accounted for Hendrix's only score on an otherwise miserable afternoon at Valhalla.
Nathan Hahn led the Warriors' defense with 6 total tackles, and freshman
Hayden Rodriguez recorded his first career interception.
In total, Hendrix accounted for 340 yards of total offense while picking up 20 first downs. Of note, 6 of those first downs came on fourth down conversions. On the other side of the ball, the defense continued its streak of holding opponents to under 50% on third down conversions, giving up just 3 on 7 attempts.
The Warriors (3-5, 3-3 SAA) now return home and will look to regroup as they host the Centre Colonels (4-4, 4-2 SAA) at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium next Saturday. Kick-off is set for 12:00 PM.
