ROME, Ga. - Hendrix advanced to the semifinal round of the 2023 SAA tournament with a four-set win over Birmingham-Southern on Friday evening at the Cage Center.
The Warriors took the first two sets, then responded after a 25-16 loss in the third set to win the match in four by squeaking out a 25-21 victory in the final set.
Loren Payne led Hendrix offensively with 14 kills, while
Grace House and
Camryn Presley each recorded 10 kills. House was a massive presence defensively at the net, recording five blocks.
Sam Friedl contributed two crucial points from the service line with two service aces. Addilyn Henry dished out 22 assists, and
Kyler Greenlee accounted for 21 assists.
As a team, Hendrix hit .248 and limited the Panthers to just .181. The Warriors only committed 18 errors across the four sets and benefited from 25 unforced BSC errors.
The Warriors will take on the hosts and top seed Berry on Saturday night with a berth to the SAA championship game on the line.
