Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Brady's Double-Double Not Enough in Loss to Lyon

Conway, Ark. - Hendrix fell for the second time to Lyon in as many games, this time in a 91-72 loss that was close through the first three quarters of play.

Both teams got off to a sluggish start offensively, with Hendrix leading 11-6 heading into the second quarter. That is when the game really began to open up.

Lyon outscored the Warriors 32-24 in what was a back-and-forth second period of action, with Riley Brady's put-back effort beating the buzzer to trim the Scots' lead to three heading into halftime.

Hendrix would go on to outscore the Scots in the third quarter 21-20 and set the stage for what promised to be a thrilling final ten minutes of play with the score at 58-56.

However, the final period belonged entirely to Lyon. The Scots' defense gave Hendrix issues all night, the stark difference in turnover margin, in conjunction with Lyon's ability to shoot from deep, coming to the fore as both teams battled down the stretch. In the end, turnovers plagued the Warriors and put them into a hole they could not dig themselves out of.

Riley Brady highlighted the night with her second double-double of the season, recording 17 points with a career-high 17 rebounds, with 10 of those boards coming on the offensive end. The 17 rebounds is tied for ninth in program history for most rebounds in a single game.

Ava Knoedl and Simone Shields each finished the evening with 12 points. Natalie Edmonson backed that up with 11 points.

The Warriors shot 36% from the field and were just 5-20 from beyond the arc.

The loss drops Hendrix to 2-5 on the year, and they now face a quick turnaround time as they get set to host Principia tomorrow at Grove Gymnasium for a 1:00 PM tip.
