Birmingham, Ala. - Hendrix opened up conference play in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) against Birmingham-Southern (BSC) on Saturday, and quickly found themselves on the back foot.
The hosts scored with just over two minutes played in the match, but it would not take long for Hendrix to respond.
Samantha Barrett set up
Madison Lampkin in the 15' to even the proceedings and get the Warriors back on track. As it turns out, Lampkin was just getting started.
The two sides went into the halftime interval level, with Caton Nelson recording two saves on 11 total shots from BSC in the opening 45 minutes.
Lampkin hit BSC for her second of the day just after the hour mark, with
Mackenzie Sinclair providing the timely assist for what would be the winning goal. Nelson was forced into action again in the second half to preserve the Warriors' lead.
And with a little under a minute remaining in the match, Lampkin was on the mark once again to seal the win and gain an invaluable win conference win in Birmingham. This was Lampkin's first career hat trick, and she now leads the SAA with 9 goals on the year. Sinclair's assist was her third of the season and has her tied for first in the conference.
The win takes Hendrix to 7-2 (1-0 SAA) on the year, and they will return to Conway and host Millsaps next Friday in their home SAA opener. Live coverage can be found on the
