Warriors Fall Short against BSC

Conway, Ark. - The Hendrix Warriors fell 75-60 to Birmingham-Southern (BSC) on Friday night at Grove Gymnasium.

Hendrix was without three of its regular starters, but kept up with the Panthers for a majority of the contest despite never taking the lead.

Drew Mayo knocked down both free throws on a trip to the line with just over five minutes remaining in the first half to tie the contest at 22-22, and Jonathan Ryan kept the score even on the subsequent two scoring trips to make it 29-29. But that would be the closest the Warriors got as the Panthers closed the half on a 5-0 run.

Despite cutting the deficit to one on multiple occasions in the second half, Hendrix could just not find the winning edge in the winning minutes as BSC raced out to a commanding lead in the waning minutes to secure the win and deliver Hendrix its fourth consecutive loss in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) to start conference play.

Daniel Cobb and Sky Tschurr were lights out from distance with the two guards combining to go 7-of-14 from behind the arc. Cobb led the Warriors with 14 points, while Tschurr contributed a career-high 11 points off a 4-of-7 performance from the field.

As a team, the Warriors shot 30.8% from the field and 35.5% from behind the arc, while shooting 90% from the stripe.

The loss drops Hendrix to 3-12 (0-4 SAA), and they will now host the Millsaps Majors on Sunday afternoon, still seeking that elusive first win in the SAA on the year. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM at Grove Gymnasium.
