Conway, Ark. - Hendrix suffered its first loss in league play in a 2-0 defeat to Centre on Friday night at Warrior Soccer Field.
The away side found the opener just three minutes into the match to take a 1-0 lead. Hendrix was unable to mount any serious efforts on goal in a half where they were mostly confined to their half of the pitch.
Kennedy Lewis did brilliant to keep the Colonels' lead at one with several remarkable stops.
Lewis was at it again in the second half, producing a couple saves from point-blank range to deny Centre a second goal. Her 8 saves on 17 shots faced set a new season-high for the sophomore.
Madi Lampkin and
Kaylee Fluger were both able to put shots on frame in the second half, but to no avail.
The Colonels were able grab a second goal seven minutes from time to effectively see of the match.
The loss drops Hendrix to 5-2-5, 1-1-2 SAA. They will return to Warrior Soccer Field on Sunday to host Sewanee at 11:00 AM.
