Conway, Ark. - Hendrix opened up its 2024-25 home slate on Sunday afternoon with a 64-57 loss versus the University of Dallas.
Three Warriors finished in double-figures as
Caleb Squires and
Colten Berry each scored 11 points while
Jaxon Herrera tallied 10 points in his home debut.
Hendrix trailed 23-20 late in the first half before
Houston Likens' three-pointer tied the game at 23-23. With 1:13 left in the half, Berry went to the line and completed an old-fashioned three-point play on a successful layup attempt to help the Warriors go into halftime with a 26-25 lead.
Hendrix let their lead slip early in the second half and were unable to get it back. They were able to close the gap to one on several occasions, with
Carson Bower's jumper able to trim Dallas' lead to one with 3:53 remaining, but the Crusaders responded with six unanswered points to take a seven point lead that proved to be too much for the Warriors to come back from.
Hendrix shot 34.3% from the field but just 18.2% (4-22) from behind the arc. They outscored Dallas in the paint 30-22 and got 15 points from the bench.
The Warriors fall to 0-2 on the season and will now gear up for a lengthy spell on the road, which starts on Thursday with an in-state matchup versus Lyon in Batesville.
