Conway, Ark. - Hendrix and Lyon went blow-for-blow on Tuesday night in a thrilling contest at Grove Gymnasium before the Scots were able to narrowly escape with a 79-76 win.
The Warriors opened the game on a 6-0 run to get on top of Lyon before the Scots found their footing to battle back and take a 20-15 into the second quarter. Trailing 30-20 after the second media timeout, Hendrix exploded on a 14-2 run to retake the lead with 00:20 left in the half, but Lyon would head into halftime with their lead back after a three-pointer in the final seconds.
Hendrix opened the second half in the same fashion as the first with an 8-1 run that was highlighted by a
Brooklyn Rowe long ball. The two sides would then trade points for the rest of the half heading down the stretch.
Brailey Forst knocked down a couple of clutch free throws with 00:51 left in the contest to level the score at 76-76, but Lyon would find the winning basket with half a minute to go to seal out the win.
The Warriors shot 37% from the field and 31% from behind the arc.
Ava Knoedl led the Orange and Black with 19 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Forst continued her strong start to the season with a second-consecutive double-double, finishing with a new career-high 17 points with 11 boards, and was a perfect 9-9 from the stripe.
Natalie Edmonson and Rowe each finished with 12 points.
Hendrix will remain at Grove Gymnasium through the end of the week with home contests versus Austin College on Friday and the University of Dallas on Sunday.
