Warriors Drop Regular Season Finale to Rhodes

Memphis, Tenn. - The Hendrix Warriors dropped their regular season finale to Rhodes 71-52 on Wednesday evening at Mallory Gymnasium

Both teams struggled offensively as the home side trudged their way to a 15-9 lead heading into the second quarter.

From there, Rhodes took control, outscoring the Warriors 22-11 to take a 37-20 lead into hafltime.

Hendrix trailed by as many as 21 in the third quarter, but went on a 14-6 run to close the quarter and cut the deficit to 13.

However, the Warriors would not find the same success in the fourth quarter as they did in the later stages of the third, trailing by as many as 25 halfway through the final ten minutes.

Riley Brady led Hendrix with 12 points and an astounding 21 rebounds. The latter figure is a new season-high for the freshman, and ranks tied for fifth all-time in rebounds in a single game. She currently leads the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rebounding, and is averaging a double-double per game heading into postseason play.

Ava Knoedl ended the evening with 8 points.

The loss drops the Warriors to 4-21 (2-12 SAA) and leaves them tied for seventh with Birmingham-Southern in the SAA standings after the final matchweek. Per the rules put forth by the SAA, there will now be a coin toss to decide the 7th and 8th seeds in the conference tournament.

Update (2/14/2024 8:02 PM CST): It has been determined via coin toss that Hendrix will be the 8th seed in the conference tournament next weekend. They will face the #1 overall seed Millsaps in Jackson, Miss.
