Sewanee, TN- Currently riding a 4 game win streak, Hendrix hit the road this weekend for the start of SAA play against the Sewanee Tigers. The Warriors would prove to be dominated from the start of game 1 and would stay the course, sweeping the Tigers in dominate fashion.
Game 1 (W, 14-9)
The Warriors opened the game in explosive fashion, scoring 4 runs in the top of the 1st to take the early lead. Sewanee would respond back in the bottom of the 2nd with 3 runs of their own to bring it to a 4-3 game.
Hendrix would add 2 more runs in the 3rd thanks to a RBI FC by Austin Rabago that would score Drake Job. Joseph Watts would also score on the play thanks to a throwing error by the SS.
Hendrix would continue to add more runs in the 5th thanks to RBIs from Shaun Pope & Owen Shaw to take a 8-3 lead. After Sewanee added a run in the 6th, the Warriors would add 3 more runs in the 8th to take a commanding 11-4 lead going into the bottom of the 8th.
Going into the 9th, the Warriors would add 3 more runs to take a 14-5 lead into the bottom of the 9th. Things would get a little too close to comfort with Sewanee adding 4 runs to cut the deficit to 14-9, but the Warriors would shut the door on any comeback attempt by the Tigers, getting the win 14-9.
Bryson Bales was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings recording 4 strikeouts.
Game 2 (W, 12-0)
After a back and forth affair the day prior, the Warriors would dominate from the start and not let up. Hendrix would get the scoring started in the 2nd with Owen Shaw scoring on a wild pitch. RBIs by Austin Rabago, Shaun Pope & Zach Marriott would bring the score to 4-0.
The Warriors would keep it up with a SAC Fly by Shaw & with a Ian Guthrie steal of home to bring the score to 6-0. After a Drake Job RBI Walk in the 6th to make it a 7-0 game, the Warriors would shut things down in the 8th adding 5 more runs and keeping Sewanee off the board, ending the game in the 8th.
Aiden Leggett toed the rubber for the Warriors, going 6 full with 5 strikeouts.
Game 3 (W, 6-1)
After clinching the series and going for their 7th win in a row, Hendrix would look to build off the momentum of their 12-0 shutout in the game prior.
Zach Marriott started the scoring off, scoring thanks to a SAC bunt by Owen Shaw in the 4th. Adam Bland & Shaw would both score thanks to a RBI Double by Drake Job. Ian Guthrie would bring Job home thanks to a RBI single to right center, bringing the score to 4-0. After adding a Sewanee run in the 5th, the Warriors would add the final two runs with Drake Job & Diego Alvarado scoring on two separate wild pitches bringing the final score to 6-1.
David Blackburn got the win for the Warriors, going 6 full and adding 5 strikeouts.
