Warriors Come Back to Take Game 1 from Millsaps

Conway, Ark. - Hendrix scored seven unanswered runs from the 6th inning to the 8th to complete the 10-8 comeback win over Millsaps and take Game 1 to stay undefeated in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).

The Warriors trailed 8-3 in the home half of the 6th and got a two-out sacrifice fly from Adam Bland to score Austin Rabago and trim the Majors' lead to one.

Hendrix scratched one more across in the 7th with a Charlie Deaton RBI single to put more pressure on Millsaps heading into the final two innings.

After Braxton Waller put the Majors down in order to begin the 8th, Joseph Watts led off the home half of the inning with a stand-up double to left center and was brought in by a Drake Job two-out RBI single. With runners on first and third, Alex Musel brought them both home with 2-RBI single through the right side to tie the game at 8-8.

Deaton stepped up to the plate with runners on the corners and drove in two more runs to give Hendrix a 10-8 lead heading into the 9th.

JD Nichols entered in relief in the 9th with a save opportunity on the line and got the job done, striking out two Majors hitters and inducing a fly out to right field to earn his first save of the season.

Hendrix outhit Millsaps 12-7. Hogan Ralston, Job, Deaton, Rabago, and Watts all enjoyed two-hit outings with Job and Deaton recording 3 RBIs apiece.

Waller earned the decision on the mound for his first win of the season, throwing 1.1 shutout innings with a couple strikeouts.

The win improves Hendrix to 11-5 (4-0 SAA). They will play for the series tomorrow in a Saturday doubleheader. First pitch for Game 2 is scheduled for 12:00 PM at Warrior Baseball Field.
