Memphis, Tenn. - After taking Game 1 versus Rhodes on Friday night, Hendrix lost both games of Saturday's doubleheader to drop their weekend series with the Lynx.
Game 2 (L, 10-1)
Rhodes plated four runs in the 1st for an explosive start. They tacked on two runs each in the 3rd and the 5th and one more in the 7th for a 9-0 lead.
Hendrix finally got on the board with an RBI-double from
Zach Marriott in the 8th to score
Joseph Watts, but that would be all the Warriors could muster in the first game of the doubleheader.
Marriott and Watts both recorded two hits and accounted for most of Hendrix's production at the plate.
Aiden Leggett (L, 2-1) was the pitcher of record after allowing six runs off of six hits in 3.0 IP.
Game 3 [L, 6-5 (F/9)]
Hendrix got off to a much better start in the second game of the doubleheader as
Drake Job and
Alex Musel both scored runs off of opportunistic base-running to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning.
Job would then record an RBI walk in the next inning, and
Ian Guthrie laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring in
Adam Bland for a 4-0 lead.
Rhodes responded with two runs of their own in the home half of the inning.
The Warriors were close to closing out the win and the series in the 7th, but surrendered a 2-RBI single with two outs that took the game to extra-innings.
After a scoreless 8th inning, Hendrix got back on the board in the 9th via a sacrifice fly from Bland to score
Charlie Deaton.
With Rhodes trailing and down to their final out, the Lynx were once again able to keep the game alive with an RBI triple. They would then walk it off on the ensuing at-bat with an infield error that allowed the winning run to score.
Marriott followed up on his Game 1 performance with another two-hit game and a run scored. Job finished 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
JD Nichols was the pitcher of record in the series finale, allowing two runs off two hits in 0.2 IP.
Up Next: Hendrix (16-7, 7-2 SAA) will head to Marshall, Texas for a midweek contest with #5 East Texas Baptist, before returning to Conway to host the Berry Vikings for a weekend series on March 29-30.
