Marshall, Texas - Hendrix lost its midweek contest to #7 East Texas Baptist (ETBU) on Tuesday afternoon at Woods Field.
Hendrix got the scoring started in the first with an
Adam Bland long ball. It was only the second home run that the Warriors have hit so far in the 2024 regular season.
After ETBU scratched an unearned run across in the home half of the first, Hendrix responded in the next inning as
Zach Marriott drove in
Joseph Watts and
Alex Musel for a 3-1 lead.
The Tigers plated four unanswered runs over the next three innings to take a 5-3 lead, but Watts' sacrifice fly and
Austin Rabago's RBI single in the sixth evened the score.
ETBU would take the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth on a passed ball, and an RBI triple in the seventh gave the Tigers an insurance run.
Bland led off the ninth with a lead-off single but was left stranded on third as the next three hitters for the Warriors were all retired to end the game.
Dylan Kalmus toed the rubber for Hendrix and surrendered five runs on ten hits, with all but one of those runs being earned. He recorded four strikeouts on the afternoon.
Klayton Wingfield entered in relief and recorded two strikeouts in 1.1 IP of work.

Up Next: the Warriors return to Conway to host Berry for a weekend series at Warrior Baseball Field. Hendrix currently has a one-game lead on Centre at the top of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) as they enter into the fourth week of league play.
