Jack Hodgins, now the program's all-time leader in career strikeouts, recorded three strikeouts in relief to bring his career tally to 249.
JD Nichols and
Jackson Corrigan recorded a pair of strikeouts as well.
At the plate, it was a big day for the Warriors, highlighted by an
Ian Guthrie long ball and two doubles from
Zach Marriott. Guthrie's homer, which gave Hendrix a 2-0 lead in the top of the 4th inning, marks the first time the Warriors have gone deep this season. He
Marriott drove in a game-high three runs off of his two extra-base hits on six official at-bats.
Joseph Watts also drove in a pair of runs on a 2-4 day at the plate.
The win improves Hendrix to 7-5 on the season, and they will now hit the road to Sewanee, Tennessee for a three-game series with the Tigers to open up play in the Southern Athletic Association. The Warriors will play two on Saturday, March 9 before a lone contest on Sunday afternoon.
