Baseball Swept in Saturday Doubleheader

Danville, Ky. - Hendrix lost both games of Saturday's doubleheader to Centre in their final two games in league play. The Warriors entered the weekend with a chance to win the regular season championship outright, but will instead lock into the 4th overall seed in next weekend's Southern Athletic Association (SAA) playoffs after being swept by the Colonels.

Game 2 (L, 5-3)
Hendrix dropped Game 2 in a 5-3 decision after taking a 3-2 lead in the 4th inning. Hogan Ralston and Ian Guthrie led off the inning with singles, with Ralston scoring off an RBI ground-out by Zach Marriott. Charlie Deaton drew a two-out walk to put two on with two down for Austin Rabago, who singled to centerfield to bring home Guthrie and Deaton for the go-ahead run.

But Hendrix was unable to tack on any more runs in the following five innings, and a three-spot for the Colonels in the bottom of the 8th was enough to see off the game for the home side in Game 2.

Game 3 (L, 5-4)
The Warriors drew first blood in Game 3 as Owen Shaw sent an RBI single out to centerfield to score Adam Bland for the game's first run.

After surrendering three runs in the bottom of the 3rd, Joseph Watts was brought home in the top of the 5th off a Drake Job sacrifice fly to cut Centre's lead to one run.

The Colonels added another in the home half of the inning, but the Warriors immediately responded with two runs in the 6th courtesy of Guthrie and Shaw to even the score at 4-4.

However, Centre re-took the lead in the next half inning, and were able to hold on to their 5-4 advantage and secure the series sweep.
