Conway, Ark. - Hendrix College has announced Kara LeLeux as the new head coach of the Hendrix Warriors softball program.
LeLeux comes to Hendrix after two years as head softball coach at Covenant College. In her first year as head coach in Lookout Mountain, LeLeux led the Scots to the program's fifth 20-win season in school history with a 20-17 record. Their 10-6 mark in the USA South placed third in the USA South West Division, the highest regular season conference finish for Covenant.
"I am thrilled to welcome Coach LeLeux to Conway", said Hendrix College Director of Athletics Amy Weaver. "Given her experiences as a student-athlete and as a head coach, Coach LeLeux knows what it takes to win at the NCAA Division III level. She is committed to academic and athletic excellence, and we look forward to her bringing that mentality to Hendrix."
LeLeux arrived at Covenant after a successful four-year run as the head softball coach at Colorado High School in Colorado City, Texas. In her four years at Colorado ISD, LeLeux's teams won two area championships and made runs in the postseason three times. In her final season at the helm, LeLeux's team took its second area title during her tenure and advanced to the 2A Region championship game.
"I am honored and extremely grateful to Coach Weaver for the opportunity to lead the softball program here at Hendrix," said LeLeux. "The moment I stepped on campus, I felt welcomed into the community, and I am thrilled to work alongside the other coaches in the department to pursue the mission of the athletic department and the college. I am excited to start building relationships with the student-athletes and investing in the program to establish a winning culture both on and off the field."
Originally from Cypress, Texas, LeLeux was a four-year standout at Hardin-Simmons University. A three-time All-American Southwest Conference honoree at first base, she had a career .307 average in 143 games with 17 homers and 50 extra-base hits. LeLeux was also a four-time Academic All-ASC selection.
LeLeux graduated from Hardin-Simmons in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and forensic studies. She completed a master's of education degree in kinesiology, sport, and recreation from Hardin-Simmons in 2017.
