Georgetown, Texas - Two days after drawing Trinity (TX) to kick-off the 2024 season, Hendrix traveled north to take on another regional power in Southwestern where they would fall in a 2-0 decision to the Pirates.
Tripp Ortega tested the Pirates' goal early with a right-footed effort, but it was the hosts who found the opening goal just under the halfway point of the first half.
Josh Montgomery would see his right-footed shot saved just minutes later for the only two shots on goal in the first half for the Warriors.
Holt Bliss put a shot on goal early in the second half, but Hendrix struggled to generate offensive chances in the latter stages of the match. The Pirates eventually went up 2-0 with half an hour left to play and were able to see the game out from there.
James Leone managed three saves of the five shots put on frame.
Hendrix (0-1-1) returns to Conway for home matches versus Lyon and the University of the Ozarks this weekend. Kick-off for their 2024 home opener versus Lyon is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Friday evening at Warrior Soccer Field.
