Conway, Ark. - Hendrix closed out the 2024 Hendrix Invitational with a nail-biting five-set loss to Concordia on Sunday afternoon at Grove Gymnasium.
The Warriors dropped the first set 25-20, but responded to take the next two sets 25-23. Concordia rallied to force a fifth set, which they would eventually win 16-14 after Hendrix could not clinch the match while leading 14-13. Brittany Newberry's side showed resilience in battling back to make the fifth set competitive after surrendering the first five points of the set.
Ana Bastos followed up a 17-point performance from Saturday night with the best performance of her young career, tallying a career-high 25 kills in what turned out to be a sensational afternoon for the sophomore.
Riley Brady was second on the team with kills with 12. She also contributed a match-high 4 service aces, a new career mark for the sophomore.
Lily Meyer and
Adilynn Henry both recorded 2 service aces while combining for 49 assists.
Amelia Don tacked on five kills for a new season-high.
Hendrix (6-8, 0-1 SAA) will remain in Conway to host Centre and Sewanee next Sunday and Monday as the Warriors officially flip the page in their schedule to begin conference play in their final season in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).
