Conway, Ark. - Hendrix celebrated its first Homecoming in 64 years last Saturday as the Warriors walked off in dramatic fashion in front of a raucous crowd at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium. But the 31-28 win over Huntingdon was not the only source of excitement for the Hendrix community.
Before the team ran out of Sturgis Athletics Center on Saturday afternoon, they were introduced to the newest member of the Warriors athletic community — the new official mascot of the Hendrix Warriors.
"As we enter into a new transition of Hendrix athletics, we are excited to unveil our new mascot," said Hendrix College Director of Athletics Amy Weaver. "The idea of having a mascot was first brought up just over a year ago, and Saturday's exciting reveal is the culmination of months of hard work by many people. The athletic department is grateful to all of those who had a part to play in bringing the mascot to life."
Saturday afternoon marked the first of many appearances by the Hendrix Warriors mascot in the Conway community.
The mascot was made possible by the generous contributions of VMS Trust and Kent Richey '65.
