Conway, Ark. - Hendrix took a 1-0 lead into halftime versus the University of the Ozarks on Sunday evening but failed to see out the victory against their in-state foe.
The lead came courtesy of
Cecil Rodgers, who headed in after a wonderful in-swinging free kick from
Holt Bliss with four minutes remaining in the first half. It was Rodgers' first goal of the season, which was one of 9 shots that Hendrix registered in the first half.
James Leone was called into action early with the game still at 0-0 and produced a fine one-on-one save after Ozarks got in behind the Warriors' back line.
Ozarks equalized in the 60th minute, which kick-started a frantic final half hour from both teams.
Hendrix had a couple chances late but were unable to find the winner as the match ended 1-1.
The Warriors (0-2-2) remain at home and will host the University of St. Thomas and the University of Dallas at Warrior Soccer Field this weekend.
