Conway, Ark. - Hendrix left no doubt in their first-ever football game in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 60-21 blowout win over Austin College on Homecoming weekend.
The Warriors have scored 107 points over their last two contests after their 47-28 win over Rhodes two weekends ago and continued that offensive form with a stellar day in Conway, out-gaining the 'Roos by nearly 330 yards of total offense. Hendrix rushed for 179 yards on offense while the defense held Austin to just 14 yards on the ground.
Jacob Buniff finished the day 31-of-45 for 380 yards with three passing touchdowns.
Hendrix was a remarkable 15-of-23 on third down, and
Zach Schultz's defense was able to get off the field ten of thirteen times on third down. Tristan Johnson,
Chandler Laurent, and
Nick Booth each recorded a solo sack, while
Garrison Waldrop and
John Best both got in on a sack. Both Johnson and Laurent also forced 'Roo fumbles, with the former recovering a fumble off a sack from the latter. Perhaps the biggest defensive highlight of the day was
Ryan Maxwell's two interceptions, which marks his second two-interception game of the season.
Westin Bruce led all participants in receiving with a 139-yard day on 7 receptions.
Brooks McGee had a career-day with 9 receptions and 76 yards with two receiving touchdowns.
Auvic White recorded his second-career three-touchdown day, scoring three times and netting 55 yards on the ground on 13 carries.
Keaton Hahn led the defense with seven solo tackles, with one of those coming for a loss of five yards.
Hendrix improves to 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in the SCAC. They will hit the road next weekend to take on Texas Lutheran in Seguin.
