Conway, Ark. - Hendrix continued its impressive start to conference play with a 3-0 sweep of Ozarks on Saturday morning at Grove Gymnasium.
The Warriors commemorated Homecoming weekend and the 10-year anniversary of the NCAA final four team with a dominant display, as they did not allow the Eagles to reach 20 points in any of the three sets. It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Hendrix hit 0.361 in the match and held the Eagles to just 0.065. The Warriors hit a whopping .500 in the first set en route to a dominant 25-12 opening-set victory. A four-point run from the Eagles in the third set gave the visitors their largest lead of the match at 13-11, but a five-point run from Hendrix put the Warriors back on top before they ended the match on an eight-point run to win the final set 25-17.
Ana Bastos led all participants with 13 kills over the three sets.
Riley Brady joined Bastos in double-figures with 11 kills.
Emma Blancovich contributed a career-high four service aces, with Brady and
Mary Addisyn Stubbs each tallying two apiece.
Defensively,
Carola Moreno led the Warriors with a career-high 26 digs, and
Cadence Compton notched a season-high in blocks with three.
Hendrix improves to 13-2 and 7-1 in the SCAC. They will take a break from league play as they head to Marshall tomorrow to take on the second-ranked East Texas Baptist Tigers.
