Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Takes Two of Three at Second Crossover

Conway, Ark. - Hendrix hosted the second SCAC crossover event of the season this weekend and took two of three matches against Gold Division opponents.

The Warriors cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Concordia to kick off the event. Ana Bastos and Riley Brady each hit double figures with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. The Warriors hit .308 as a team while holding Concordia to just a .041 percentage. Brady, Hailey Gripka, and Rachel Pearce each recorded three blocks defensively.

Hendrix followed up its Friday night win with a 3-1 victory over Texas Lutheran on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors dropped the opening set 28-26 but rallied to take the next three sets and held the Bulldogs to under 20 points in each of those sets. Brady recorded an astounding 25 kills over the four sets, with Bastos backing her up with 15 kills. Brady also dropped four service aces. Gripka continued her defensive form with four blocks, while Faith Jones recorded a whopping 37 digs.

The Warriors dropped a five-set thriller to Schreiner in the evening's nightcap. After losing the opening set, Hendrix took the next two sets and rallied from a huge third-set deficit to battle back and make the third set competitive before the Mountaineers eventually put the set away.

The two sides traded points in the fifth and final set, but Schreiner was able to hold off the Warriors and secure a 15-11 victory in the fifth set and clinch the win.

Hendrix now sits at 17-4 and 11-2 in the league. They remain atop the Blue Division and will wrap up conference play next weekend in Clarksville against the University of the Ozarks.
