Conway, Ark. - Hendrix's men's basketball team fell 94-63 to Sewanee on Sunday afternoon at Grove Gymnasium in the Warriors' regular season finale.
Anthony Boone's squad hung tough with the SAA's second-place team for much of the first half and went into halftime trailing just 40-33. After going down 25-13 with 7:49 left in the half, the Warriors hit back with a 15-4 run, highlighted by four triples from
Tyler Deithloff, to make it a 29-28 ball game. Sewanee would then go on a run of their own and led 40-28 with under a minute to play. A layup by
Carson Bower and a last-second three from
Houston Likens sent Hendrix halftime with a seven-point deficit.
The wheels fell off in the second half as the Tigers jumped out to a 17-point lead right after the first media timeout and never looked back as the Warriors faltered down the stretch.
Deithloff led all scorers with 25 points, his second-consecutive game finishing with that mark. He was the only Warrior to finish in double-figures.
Hendrix will now make the trip to Sewanee for the first round of the SAA Tournament. The two teams will square off in the #2 vs #7 matchup at Juhan Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon, with the winner heading to Berry for the SAA Tournament semifinals.
