Memphis, Tenn. - Hendrix snapped an eight-game losing streak on Wednesday night with a 57-52 win over Rhodes at Mallory Gymnasium.
The Warriors avenged their January 8th loss to the Lynx to hand coach
Wes Sullivan his first win in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA).
Riley Brady led the visitors with 10 points and 17 rebounds.
In a game that was back-and-forth until the final minute, Hendrix was able to outlast their I-40 rivals with a couple clutch plays on either end of the floor.
Brooklyn Rowe's triple with 0:37 left in the third quarter gave Hendrix a 41-37 lead, its largest lead since late in the first quarter. After going down 49-47 with under two minutes to play, Brady drove inside and finished cooly off te glass while drawing the foul to tie the game, and was able to give Hendrix a 50-49 lead after completing the three-point play.
Trailing 51-50 with 1:06 remaining, the Warriors ran the floor after a Rhodes' missed free throw, with
Natalie Edmonson's pull-up transition jumper giving Hendrix a 52-51 lead just under the minute mark.
Megan Gray sank a couple free throws to make the Warriors' lead a little more comfortable, and would be good from the line once more with next to no time remaining to clinch the win.
Ava Knoedl and
Brailey Forst each finished with 9 points.
Simone Shields tallied 8 points.
Hendrix got 19 points off the bench and outscored the Lynx 15-4 off of turnovers. The Warriors shot 13-20 from the stripe, compared to just 5-of-10 from Rhodes.
Hendrix (8-14, 1-8 SAA), having secured its first league win of the season, now heads to Millsaps for a rematch with the defending SAA champions.
