Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Starts Off 1-0 in SCAC

Conway, Ark. (Sept. 20th, 2025) - The Warriors played host to the Roos of Austin College Saturday for the first conference game of the year, where the Warriors got the 3-2 win. It was a gritty win for Brittany Newberry's squad who secured the first SCAC win for Hendrix since rejoining the conference.

The first set started was a very back and forth affair, with teams trading points all throughout the set. Austin College would lead by as much as 5 in the set, but the Warriors would fight back to even the action at 22-22 before the Roos would close it out 25-23.

The second set resembled much of the first set, with both teams trading blows back and forth. The Roos would bring the score to 20-21 before the Warriors would go on a four point rally to close out the second set 25-20.

The Warriors would come out strong in the third set, building a five point lead before Austin College would fight to get back into the game. Hendrix would then go on a late rally to push the lead out of reach of the Roos, with the Warriors securing the third set 25-16.

The fourth set started off the same as the sets before, with both teams exchanging points between the two. The Warriors would trail 17-16 before Austin College would go on an eight point rally to force the deciding 5th set 25-16.

Staying true to the theme of the match, both teams would trade leads back and forth for much of the 5th set with neither team leading by more than three points. Austin College would cut the lead to 12-13 before Hendrix would close it out, winning 15-12.

Riley Brady lead the game in kills with 16 with Anna Bastos right behind her with 15. Adilynn Henry had a game high 30 assists, tallying 13 digs as well. Mary Addisyn Stubbs lead the Warriors with 22 digs, with Faith Jones behind her with 18 digs.

The Warriors will look to go 2-0 in SCAC play, hosting University of Dallas Sunday for the second game of the SCAC opening weekend. Game is scheduled for 12:00 PM CT.
