Irving, Texas - Hendrix was unable to capitalize on a hot start as it suffered its seventh consecutive loss in league play with a 77-50 loss to the University of Dallas on Thursday night at the Maher Center.
The Warriors opened the game with 8 unanswered points, but the Crusaders responded with a 21-4 scoring run to take an early nine-point lead. The deficit soon got into double-figures, with Hendrix trailing by 15 at the final media timeout of the first half. The Warriors would go into halftime trailing 42-22.
Dallas pushed the lead to 31 with 13:05 remaining in the second half, though the Warriors got it back down to 21 with a
Kyle Roach triple at the 8:08 mark. Two
Joseph Dockett free throws eventually cut the lead to 20, though the Crusaders kept their foot on the pedal down the stretch to keep the contest out of reach.
Dockett led the Warriors with 14 points and also recorded 3 assists.
Holden Plant also finished in double-figures with 10 points. Hendrix shot a respectable 35.7% from deep but were blown away by a Crusader offense that finished the evening 12-of-20 from behind the arc while shooting 56.6% from the field.
Charles Hatchett tied an early career-high with four blocks and also grabbed four rebounds.
Hendrix (1-17, 1-7 SCAC) will now get one-and-a-half week's rest before hitting the road for Texas once again, this time to face McMurry and Schreiner. The Warriors will tip off against McMurry on Friday, January 30 at 5:30 PM in Abilene.
