CONWAY - Grace Sandoval's second-half chip shot from outside the box earned Hendrix a valuable point on Friday night as the Warriors played to 1-1 draw with LeTourneau.
After a brief bright spell from the Warriors to begin the match, LeTourneau found their foothold after the opening five minutes and dominated the proceedings in the first half. The YellowJackets went ahead just over ten minutes played in the opening half off of Sierra Kemball-Cook's solo effort. That would end up being the lone goal going into halftime, despite Hendrix having several good looks on goal.
The second half belonged mostly to the hosts. The Warriors generated 12 of their 17 shots in the second frame and finished the evening with a 17-11 shot advantage.
Hendrix found its equalizer twelve minutes into the second half via
Grace Sandoval.
Sofia Fennelly danced through the box and played a squared ball to Sandoval, who took it well on her backfoot to set up a shot on her left foot. The senior then sent a wonferfully-placed lofted shot over the head of LeTourneau's Kinsey Fulks and into the upper right corner to make it 1-1.
After the equalizer, Hendrix upped the anty, with
Kaylee Fluger,
Ava Puente, and Fennelly all having great looks at goal. In the end though, the Warriors were unable to find a winner as the match ended 101.
Kennedy Lewis played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves to preserve the 1-1 draw and help the Warriors earn the point.
The draw takes Hendrix to 1-5-3 (0-0-2 SCAC) on the year. They will hit the road to take on Austin College on Sunday afternoon in Sherman, Texas. Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM.
