CONWAY - Hendrix dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to Concordia Texas on Sunday afternoon at Warrior Soccer Field.
Before the match, the Warriors celebrated their six seniors:
Bronwen Bollinger,
Sierra Dobson,
Sofia Fennelly,
Sarah Jones,
Kennedy Lewis, and
Grace Sandoval. Dobson scored a second-half goal to commemorate the senior day festivities, but it was too little, too late as Hendrix dropped its second-consecutive match in league play.
Hendrix held Concordia Texas scoreless through the majority of the first half before the visitors opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. The Warriors did not manage a shot in the first half, and their inability to threaten Concordia's goal continued into the early stages of the second half. The Tornados doubled their advantage ten minutes into the second frame as they looked to put the match to bed, but Hendrix began to generate chances on the other end.
The Warriors' breakthrough came in the 75th minute, when Concordia was unable to deal with
Rosalie Allen's clipped ball into the box, which eventually fell at the feet of Dobson, who was on hand to tap-in inside the six-yard box and cut the Tornados' lead to one after
Sarah Jones knocked Allen's ball on to the back post. Despite their best efforts, the home side was unable to find the equalizer over the final 15 minutes.
Kennedy Lewis only faced three shots all afternoon, making one save in her 90 minutes in goal.
The loss drops Hendrix to 2-7-5 and 0-4-2 in the SCAC. They currently sit 8th in the league and will wrap up the regular season on the road with matchups at Centenary College and the University of St. Thomas next weekend.
