SHREVEPORT, La. - Hendrix earned a valuable three points on Friday night with a 5-3 road win over Centenary at Atkins Field.
Five different scorers spearheaded a potent Hendrix attack, with three first-half goals putting
Bobby Peters' side out on the front foot.
Josh Montgomery netted the opener midway through the first half, then assisted
Dylan Cruthers three minutes later to double the Warriors' advantage. Joan Jimenez made it 3-0 with five minutes remaining before half time to send the Warriors into the intermission with a commanding lead.
Centenary got on the board early in the second half to cut it to a two-goal game, and cut the lead to just one seven minutes into the second frame.
Tripp Ortega gave Hendrix some insurance with twenty minutes remaining, and Montgomery effectively put the game to bed in the 83 minute with his second goal of the night.
Axel Aragon Juarez, who primarily plays in goal for the Warriors, provided the assist as a field player for Montgomery's second.
Cam Joniec recorded two saves in 90 minutes of action in goal. On the other end, Hendrix outshot the Gents 13-12, with eleven of the Warriors' efforts on frame.
The win takes Hendrix up to 9 points with one match remaining in the regular season. They currently sit level on points with Austin College but have the tiebreaker over the 'Roos, who have already wrapped up their regular season. Hendrix can earn a berth into next weekend's SCAC tournament with a result against the University of St. Thomas (TX) on Sunday and results elsewhere in the league.
