SHREVEPORT, La. - Hendrix was unable to get revenge against Centenary following last week's home loss to the Gents, this time losing 84-57 at the Gold Dome.
Holden Plant dropped a career-high 23 points with a season-best five made three-pointers, but it was not enough against an efficient Centenary offense that shot nearly 50% from the field. Plant's five triples accounted for the only made field goals from behind the arc for Hendrix.
Centenary went 30.4% from deep on 7-of-23 shooting but opted to bang the ball inside most of the night, out-scoring the Warriors 50-20 in the paint while also scoring 15 second-chance points and 19 points off of 15 Hendrix turnovers.
After the Gents started the evening with seven unanswered points, Hendrix battled back to cut it to a one-point game with the score at 14-13 after two free throws from
Jaxon Herrera. An 15-4 run by the hosts after that point put considerable distance between the two sides, and Centenary went into halftime with a 17-point lead.
The Warriors were able to keep the deficit hovering around 15 points through the first half of the second period, but a late Gents' surge down the stretch handed the hosts a dominant 27-point win.
Hendrix (1-21, 1-12) will wrap up their final road trip of the season on Saturday in Longview, Texas as they take on division leaders LeTourneau at Solheim Arena for a 4:00 PM tip-off.
