LONGVIEW, Texas - For the second week running, Hendrix failed to keep pace with one of the top offenses in the SCAC, falling to LeTourneau 102-62 on Saturday evening at Solheim Arena.
Despite shooting over 40.0% from the field, the Warriors came undone by a combination of LeTourneau's offensive proficiency and poor possessions, committing 28 total turnovers. The YellowJackets turned those 28 turnovers into 40 points, 24 of those coming on the fast-break, and pounded Hendrix in the lane, out-scoring them 52-22 in the paint.
On the defensive end, Hendrix generated 8 steals and 14 turnovers but only managed 10 points off of those turnovers.
Holden Plant gave Hendrix the lead early on the first possession of the contest and then banged in a three after trailing 6-4 to give the Warriors a 7-6 lead.
Charles Hatchett was good inside for two on the next possession, and his dunk at the 16:33 mark gave the Warriors their largest lead of the night. After a 30-second timeout by LeTourneau, the lead soon gave way as the YellowJackets knocked in back-to-back-to-back triples on their next three possessions to retake the lead as part of a 13-2 run.
Rowdy Robinson's layup with 13:20 remaining stopped the bleeding temporarily, but LeTourneau's lead soon ran up to double-figures, where it would remain for the rest of the evening.
The hosts went into halftim leading 57-39 and limited Hendrix to just 23 points in the second half, leaving no chance for a potential comeback.
Roach finished with 21 points, his hightest points total since January 2. Plant added 18, and Hatchett tied his season-high with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Hendrix (1-22, 1-13 SCAC) will wrap up the regular season at home next weekend with a pair of contests versus Austin College and the University of Dallas.
