SHREVEPORT, La. - Hendrix's win streak in conference is now up to four after a dominant 28-point win over Centenary on Friday evening at the Gold Dome.
Riley Brady and
Chloey-Rei Brown both tallied 20+ point performances, and
Natalie Edmonson banged in four three-pointers as Hendrix's offensive proficiency along with a stifling defensive effort proved to be too much for the Ladies.
Hendrix committed just five turnovers on the evening while their defensive press forced 17 total turnovers by Centenary. Brown and Edmonson both recorded three steals apiece, while
Carter Crane swatted away two Ladies' shots down low. Brown was on triple-double watch for most of the night, hauling in 8 rebounds and 7 assists to go along with 20 points.
Brady, the reigning NCAA Division III Player of the Week, turned in her 17th double-double in 19 games this season, scoring a game-high 22 points and grabbing 12 boards. The week before, Brady had tied the single-game program mark in points with 38 against Centenary.
The Warriors raced out of the gates upon the opening tip and never looked back, scoring 22 points in each of the first two quarters and 23 in the third to put the Ladies way behind the eight ball early with no chance to overcome a massive deficit. Hendrix led 22-13 after the first ten minutes and kept their foot on the gas to go into the halftime interval up 44-22, limiting the hosts to just nine points in the second frame. In that big 23-point third quarter for the Warriors, Brady and Brown accounted for 22 of those points.
Edmonson was the only Warrior to knock in a three-ball, but it did not matter as Hendrix chose to bang the ball inside for most of the night, out-scoring the Ladies 46-16 in the paint and adding 24 points off of turnovers. Hendrix's defense allowed Centenary to shoot just 25.0% from the field and 20.0% from deep.
The Warriors (13-8, 9-4) have guaranteed themselves no worse than a second-place finish in the SCAC blue division, and will look to keep up their winning ways tomorrow in the return fixture versus LeTourneau in Longview, Texas. Tip-off will be at approximately 6:00 PM at Solheim Arena.
