Box Score 2 CONWAY, Ark. - It was a historic weekend for Hendrix as the Warriors improved to 8-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and kept their hopes for an SCAC Blue Division title alive with wins over Centenary and LeTourneau.
The Warriors rode a big second half en route to a 72-55 win to dispatch Centenary. Hendrix led 31-28 at the half after the Ladies roared back to score 21 points in the second period, but the hosts took over in the third frame, scoring 24 points in that ten-minute span to put too much distance between themselves and Centenary.
Riley Brady, once again, posted huge numbers for
Wes Sullivan's squad, tying a single-game program record with 38 points to go along with 17 rebounds and 2 steals.
Chloey-Rei Brown added 10 points.
Saturday night ended up being more suspenseful than the day before, as Hendrix needed extra time to defeat LeTourneau. After an even first half, the YellowJackets began to get on a roll and several timely shots to keep the score close. LeTourneau eventually took the lead on a triple with 00:57 left to play, but
Riley Brady tied the game with 00:23 remaining on the clock, and the Warriors defense held on the final possession of regulation to send the game into overtime. The YellowJackets took a 65-63 lead with 3:06 left to play, but Hendrix responded down the stretch with two massive shots from
Brooklyn Rowe. The junior, who was 0-5 from behind the arc before up until 1:30 left, nailed the go-ahead corner three to give Hendrix the lead. After the Warriors defense got a stop on the ensuing possession,
Chloey-Rei Brown hit Rowe in transition to set her up for back-to-back threes and make it a four-point game. Brady, Brown, and Rowe combined to convert foul shots in the final minute to put Hendrix over the edge and deliver the overtime victory.
After tying the single-game program points record the previous night, Brady once again entered her name into the history books, recording 30 rebounds to mark the second-highest single-game total in SCAC history (remember, she owns that record with 31 rebounds against Ozarks back on January 4). She was two points away from a program-first 30-30 game. Brown came up big for the Warriors as well, scoring 19 points and grabbing 8 key rebounds. Rowe also finished in double-figures with 12 points.
The Warriors will now hit the road for the return fixtures against Centenary and LeTourneau. They will face Centenary at approximately 8:00 PM on Friday night at the Gold Dome.
