BSB | Warriors Take Three of Four from Redlands

Conway, Ark. - Hendrix took three games from their four-game set with the University of the Redlands over the weekend.

Game 1 (L, 14-11)
Redlands took the first game of the series in large part due to a 7-spot in the first. Trailing 14-3 going into the home half of the seventh, Hendrix scored eight runs over the seventh and eighth innings to cut the lead to three. The Warriors loaded the bases in the ninth with two outs and brought the winning run to the plate, but were unable to extend or win the game as the side was eventually retired with the tying run stranded on first.

Mike Massa led Hendrix with a 4-for-5 day at the plate, scoring two runs and also drawing a walk. Ryne Dodson, Zane Nolan, and Austin Rabago also collected two hits apiece.

Game 2 (W, 8-5)
Hendrix evened the series in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, overcoming a Redlands' three-spot in the first to score 8 of the final 10 runs of the game.

Giancarlo Digiacomo reached second base after drawing a lead-off walk and advancing on a passed ball in the ensuing at-bat. Rabago then doubled to advance Digiacomo to third, and Ryan Lang was able to score Digiacomo in his at-bat to put Hendrix on the board.

Cole Joyner pitched a scoreless frame in his fourth and final inning to turn it back over to the Warrior bats. Reed Ketcham singled in Charlie Deaton to make it 3-2 before a two-out RBI-double from Digiacomo brought the tying run in. Lang scored the go-ahead run in the fifth on a Zane Nolan ground-out, and Deaton singled in Josh Sutrina to extend the lead to two runs. Rabago's triple in the home sixth brought Shaun Pope and Digiacomo around to make it a 7-3 ball game, which gave Hendrix some cushion as Redlands scored two runs in the next half inning. Lang's two-out single in the seventh scored Ketcham to give the Warriors an insurance run. Connor Bryson and Braxton Waller (S, 3) shut the door over the final two innings, allowing just one hit between the two of them, with Waller earning his third save of the season to go along with two strikeouts.

Aiden Leggett (W, 3-0) earned his third winning decision in a 3.0 IP relief appearance, striking out two batters and scattering four hits across his outing.

Game 3 (W, 7-4)
The Warriors earned a 2-1 advantage in the series with a 7-4 win in Game 3.

Ryan Lang got the scoring started in the home first with a one-out triple to score Rabago and then scored from third on a wild pitch to take an early 2-0 lead. The game remained scoreless until the Redlands' third when a bases loaded two-out 2-RBI single evened the game up at 2-2.

The game remained deadlocked until the Redlands sixth when the Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead on a lead-off bomb to center field. Hendrix loaded the bases in the next half inning, and Dodson scored the tying run on a double play, but left the go-ahead run on third heading into the seventh.

Redlands retook the lead in the seventh on a two-out single, but the home seventh was loud as Hendrix scored four runs on five hits to take a decisive 7-4 lead. Rabago singled in Chase Harris to tie the game, and Ryne Dodson's two-RBI single gave the Warriors a 6-4 advantage before Ketcham's two-out single scored Dodson for the seventh run.

The Warrior pitching staff then combined for two scoreless frames to seal the win and ensure a series draw at the worst. Waller (S, 4) picked up his second save of the weekend, while Mason Holmes (W, 3-1) earned the win-in-relief with 2.0 IP of one-run ball.

Game 4 (W, 7-5)
Hendrix jumped all over Redlands in the final game of the series, scoring the game's first seven runs before escaping with a 7-5 win after Redlands plated five in the seventh.

Josh Sutrina singled in Shaun Pope for the game's opening run in the home first. Digiacomo led the Warriors offensively with two hits, the first being a two-run bomb in the third inning to score him and Mike Massa to make it 3-0. Rabago's RBI single in the fourth scored Chase Harris made it 4-0 after the freshman reached third on a one-out triple. Hendrix added two more runs in the fifth on a Ketcham RBI ground-out and a Rabago bases-loaded RBI walk, and the seventh Warrior run came in the home sixth on a Zane Nolan RBI double.

Braxton Waller (S, 5) entered in the ninth with a two-run lead and worked around a two-out fielding error to close the game and the series for good after Redlands brought the tying run to the plate.

Evan Williams (W, 1-0) was the pitcher-of-record after allowing just two earned runs in 3.1 IP while striking out two batters.
