BSB | Warriors' Game Three Comeback Ensures Series Win

CONWAY, Ark. - After splitting Friday's doubleheader versus Centenary, Hendrix overcame a late deficit in Game 3 to take the weekend series.

Game 1 (W, 12-2)
The Warriors hopped on top of Centenary early in the series opener, scoring two runs in the home first after Rowan Glover (W, 1-1) worked around a two-out hit to retire the side in a scoreless first frame. Shaun Pope led off the bottom of the inning with a hit-by-pitch and advanced to second on a single by Austin Rabago. Ryan Lang then doubled Pope home, and Rabago eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Ryne Dodson.

Centenary got on the board in the top of the third, but Hendrix answered back in the next half inning as the top of the order came back up the plate. Pope led off the inning with a double, and then scored on an RBI single from Rabago. Rabago came around to score on the next at-bat as Lang collected another RBI, and the latter then took advantage of a two-out fielding error by the Gents to score Hendrix's fifth run. Charlie Deaton singled in Giancarlo Digiacomo for the inning's final run to make it 6-1.

A two-out Gent double made it 6-2 in the top of the fourth before the scoring halted for both teams until the home seventh. Chase Harris led off the inning with a bunt single and came around to score on a Rabago RBI single. Rabago then scored on a Dodson RBI single. With Dodson on second and Lang on third after a wild pitch, both runners advanced again without the swing of a bat, this time on a balk, to make it 9-2. Reed Ketcham's one-out double scored Dodson and Bryson Claiborne after the latter subbed in to run for Josh Sutrina.

Hendrix walked it off in the eighth inning when Shaun Pope came around to score after another lead-off double to start the home half of the inning.

Glover was the pitcher of record, allowing just two runs in 5.0 IP, while Aiden Leggett (S, 1) picked up the save with 3.0 shutout innings and not allowing a hit while facing just one above the minimum.

Game 2 (L, 13-7)
A nightmare eighth inning in Game 2 kept Hendrix from a series sweep.

Austin Rabago homered for the first time this season and went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and 3 RBIs, and Ryne Dodson had another big game with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

After Centenary took an early 2-1 lead in the second, Hendrix responded in the bottom of the third as Chase Harris scored the tying run off of a Shaun Pope double. The Warriors added two more runs in the frame off RBI singles from Austin Rabago and Josh Sutrina to go up 5-2.

Rabago's homer made it 6-4 in the fifth, and Dodson's RBI double put Hendrix up 7-4 in the seventh. The wheels fell off in the eighth, as the Gents plated eight runs in that inning and added one more in the ninth for good measure.

Game 3 (W, 7-4)
Hendrix out-hit Centenary 15-8 in the series rubber match, but it took a big eighth inning from the Warriors to seal the series win.

The game went scoreless until the top of the fourth when Centenary opened the scoring with a two-out RBI triple.

Hendrix answered back in the next half inning as Chase Harris singled in Reed Ketcham for the tying run after Ketcham and Sebastian Liquori singled to lead off the inning. Rabago worked a two-out walk to load the bases, but the Warriors left them loaded for the second time of the afternoon to keep the game in a deadlock.

Zane Nolan scored the go-ahead run in the home sixth on a wild pitch, and Mike Massa reached third on the play, but the latter was left stranded on third. A three-spot in the visitor sixth gave Centenary a 4-2 lead, but Hendrix added one back in the home sixth on a one-out Austin Rabago solo shot. Shaun Pope led off the home eighth with a single to right and then made his way into scoring position on a passed ball. Ryan Lang's walk put runners on the corners for Ryne Dodson, who smoked a ball to center field in his at-bat to bring in Pope for the tying run. Bryson Claiborne ran for Lang after the latter's base on balls, and Claiborne later scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch to make it 5-4. Dodson then scored on a wild pitch during Giancarlo Digiacomo's at-bat to put Hendrix up 6-4, and Ketcham's two-out RBI single brought in Digiacomo for another insurance run.

Braxton Waller (S, 6) entered in the top of the ninth and shut the door on the Gents with three-consecutive fly-outs. Mason Holmes (W, 4-1) earned the win-in-relief with 3.0 IP of four-hit ball and a pair of strikeouts.

Pope led the Warriors with three hits, while Dodson, Ketcham, Liquori, and Harris each collected two hits.
