CONWAY - Wesley McClure has been named the SCAC Men's Singles Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
McClure swept through the singles round versus Texas Lutheran and Concordia Texas, dropping just three games in his four sets played on the weekend. On Friday, he breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win over TLU's Cash Herrera, and followed that up with a 6-3, 6-0 over Concordia's Steven Scholz on Saturday.
McClure's victories helped secure a weekend sweep for Hendrix, who will enter next week's SCAC Championships as the number two overall seed, where they will await the winner of Concorida and LeTourneau in the semifinal round.
The wins also ensured that McClure ends the regular season undefeated in singles play. It was a dominant conference season for the Little Rock native, as McClure was never taken to a third set in any of his conference matches in the No. 1 singles. He only surrendered five games in a single set on only two occasions in league play.
