#6/#8 Colonels Top Warriors

CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College women's soccer team lost to #6/#8 Centre College 4-1 in Southern Athletic Association action at Warrior Field on Friday. The first-place Colonels moved to 15-0 and 5-0 in league play, while the Warriors fall to 4-9-1 and 0-4-1.

Hendrix got on the board first when sophomore midfielder Laurie Waters fed a fastbreak pass to freshman Samantha Lallas, who put in past keeper Megan Foley in the 16th minute. The goal was only the fourth of the season that the Colonel defense had allowed.

Centre answered in the 24th minute when Annie Mitchell scored on an assist from Liz Miller. After halftime, Katie Stevenson scored in the 53rd minute on  a pass from Alex Combs, then Combs scored in the 60th minute to give the Colonels a 3-1 lead. Brittany Eisner tacked on final goal in the 72nd minute on an assist from Mary-Taylor Kersey.

Freshman keeper Rachel Zweig had six saves in 78 minutes for the Warriors and freshman Emily Kleinfelter had one save in 13 minutes. Holly Hilton came up with one save in the second half for the Colonels.

For the match, Centre outshot Hendrix 24-6 and 13-2 in shots on goal.

Hendrix will host another conference match on Sunday when they take on Sewanee – The University of the South at noon.
