CONWAY, Ark – The Hendrix College men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Centre College at Warrior Field on Friday. The visiting Colonels move to 11-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Athletic Association play, staying in first place. The Warriors fall to 9-5-2 and 1-3-1.
Ryan Garvey put Centre on the board in the 13th minute when he found the back of the net from outside of the right corner of the box. Austin Greer knocked in Garvey's rebound in the 20th minute to give the Colonels a 2-0 lead.
The Warriors cut the lead to 2-1 when freshman forward Will Dunaway came up with his fourth goal of the season with an assist from senior midfielder Connor Silvestri. Garvey tacked on a final goal for Centre in the 83rd minute when he knocked in his own rebound.
For the match, Hendrix outshot Centre 19-14 but the teams were even with six on goals each. Hendrix applied more pressure late with 12 second half shots.
Freshman keeper Marco Luna recorded three saves for the Warriors and Zach Sosnovich had four for the Colonels.
Hendrix will host Sewanee – The University of the South on Sunday at 2 p.m.
