BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Hendrix College men's soccer team's season came to end on Friday with a 2-1 loss to Millsaps College in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament. The Warriors end the year with a 10-6-3 mark, setting new programs in wins and shutouts with eight. The Majors advance with a 6-8-3 record.
Hendrix got on the board quickly, when freshman forward Will Dunaway assisted a goal by senior forward Connor Silvestri just 3:55 into the contest. The goal was the school record 44th of Silvestri's career. The Conway, Ark. native also earned the Warrior record with 103 points.
Millsaps tied the game in the 19th minute on a Hayden Baker goal. Trey Fontaine scored the game winner for the Majors with 3:16 left in regulation.
For the match, Millsaps outshot Hendrix 18-17 and had a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Freshman Marco Luna recorded seven saves in goal for the Warriors. Stephen Andrieu had one for the Majors.
The game was the final in the careers of six Hendrix seniors – Silvestri, Dylan Reed,
Kevin Gregory, Grant Womack, Rob Weingold and Tresor Mukiza.
