DANVILLE, Ky. – The Hendrix College women's soccer team ended their season with a 2-1 defeat to #9/#11 Centre College in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament on Friday. The eighth-seeded Warriors ended their season 4-12-1 overall while the top-seeded Colonels move on with a 17-1 record.
Centre got on the board first when Catey Hunter served a pass to Anne Mitchel who scored on a diving header in the 13th minute. Hendrix senior forward Mel Roach scored her league-leading 13th goal of the season in the 43rd minute to tie the game just before half.
After the break, Liz Miller scored the game-winner for the Colonels on a corner kick by Maddie Slattery.
For the game, Centre outshot Hendrix 22-2 and had a 12-2 shots on goal advantage.
Roach took both shots for the Warriors.
Hendrix freshman keeper Rachel Zweig recorded 10 saves, two off her season-best.
The game was the final in the careers for six Hendrix seniors – Roach, Rebecca Rahn, Emilia Bussard, Morgan Scott, Ana Contreras and Megan Childress.
