Warriors Record Fifth Consecutive Shutout

CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College men's soccer team tied the school record for shutouts in a season with a 3-0 win over Howard Payne University at Warrior Field on Monday night. The Warriors (4-0-1) have yet to allow a goal all season and freshman keeper Marco Luna broke the program record with his fifth shutout of the year.

Luna, from Guatemala City, posted four saves and stretched his streak to 470 consecutive scoreless minutes.

Hendrix opened the scoring in the fifth minute on a freshman Steve Cochrun goal. Senior Connor Silvestri, Hendrix' career goals leader, made the game 2-0 just before halftime on a fast break after passes from Luna and freshman forward Pedro Sagone.

Sagone netted the final goal in the 80th minute with an assist from Cochrun.

For the game, the Warriors outshot the Yellow Jackets (2-1-1) 16-15 and had a 7-4 shots on goal advantage.

HPU goalie Drew Clanahan recorded four saves.

Hendrix will return to action on Friday when they open the Warrior Classic with Simpson College at 7 p.m.
