CONWAY, Ark. – Senior forward Rebecca Rahn tied the school record with three assists as the Hendrix College women's soccer team defeated Austin College 3-2 at Warrior Field on Tuesday afternoon. Rahn, from Little Rock, Ark., had a hand in all three goals to become the ffith player in school history to reach three assists.
Freshman Samantha Lallas gave the Warriors (3-2) an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute after Rahn served her the ball from the right side after a corner kick. The 'Roos (1-3) tied the game in the 14th minute when Abby Saizow scored on a pass from Sydney Redding. Hendrix regained the lead in the 22nd minute when Rahn passed the ball through the middle of the field to senior forward Mel Roach who found the net for her seventh goal of the year.
Austin tied the game in the 64th minute when Ariel Marder's corner kick found Kelsey D'Amore to make it 2-2. Rahn and Roach set up the game-winning goal in the 74th minute for freshman Summerlin Criswell, who found the net for the first time in her career on an arching rainbow shot over the 'Roos keeper's head.
Freshman keeper Rachel Zweig recorded a season-best seven saves for Hendrix, while Emily Brockette only managed one save for Austin.
Hendrix will travel to Purchase, N.Y. for a match with Manhattanville College on Friday.
