SHREVEPORT, La. – The Hendrix College men's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to eight games with a 3-1 road victory at Centenary College on Sunday afternoon. Freshman forward Will Dunaway, making his first collegiate start, scored two goals for the Warriors (7-0-1) and senior defender Dylan Reed hit a penalty kick to lead the offensive attack.
Dunaway, from San Antonio, Texas, put Hendrix on the board in the 14th minute with a goal from 15 yards out into the bottom left corner. Freshman Pedro Sagone assisted the score, bringing his team-leading total to four on the year. Reed, of Conway, Ark., put the Warriors up 2-0 in the 24th minute with the PK.
The game remained 2-0 until the 86th minute the Gents' (2-5) Brandon Heim scored on a pass from Gabriel Zahm. Hendrix senior midfielder Tresor Mukiza assisted Dunaway's final goal of the game with 2:27 left to play to secure the win.
For the match, Hendrix outshot Centenary 20-15 and 9-7 on goal.
Freshman keeper Marco Luna recorded six saves for the Warriors, while Robbie Ramirez had six for the Gents.
Hendrix will travel to Lyon College in Batesville, Ark. on Wednesday.
