BATESVILLE, Ark. - For the first time this season, the Hendrix College men's soccer team suffered a loss, falling 2-1 at Lyon College on Tuesday afternoon.
The host Scots (6-1-1) outshot the Warriors (7-1-1) 31-13 for the game and had a 16-8 on goal advantage
After a scoreless first half, Lyon's Lance Alpuerto broke the tie just 33 seconds into the second period with a goal and an assist from Jack Hayes. Hendrix midfielder Grant Womack tied it up in the 64th minute with his third goal of the year. Edin Campara won the game for the Scots with a goal in the 81st minute on assists from Andy Walker and Stuart Bramley.
Freshman keeper Marco Luna recorded a season-high 11 saves for the Warriors. Ashley Peyton-Bruhl had five saves in 78 minutes and Anthony Wakeford posted one save in 12 minutes for Lyon.
Hendrix will face Millsaps College for a Southern Athletic Association match in Jackson, Miss. on Saturday.
