CONWAY, Ark. - Sophomore forward
Samantha Lallas scored three goals and added two assists as the Hendrix College women's soccer team defeated Oglethorpe University 5-3 in Southern Athletic Association action on Sunday afternoon.
Lallas, who has scored eight goals and five assists in the last five games, put the Warriors (6-4-2, 1-1-1) on the board in the fifth minute on an assist from sophomore forward
Hannah Sigda. The Stormy Petrels (5-6-1, 0-3) tied the game in the 11th minute on a Claire Stauber score.
Sigda assisted Lallas again in the 14th minute , then Lallas returned the favor, passing to Sigda for a goal in the 27th to go up 3-1. Katie Muller scored for OU with 37 seconds left in the first half to make the game 3-2 going in to the break.
In the 61st minute, the Petrels tied it up when Laura Betancourt scored on an assist from Emily Silva. Sophomore midfielder
Danielle Luther scored the game winner for Hendrix in the 74th minute off a Lallas corner kick. Lallas added another goal in the 78th with an assist by sophomore forward
Sydney King.
For the game, Hendrix outshot Oglethorpe 16-8 and 11-5 on goal.
Michaela Seltzer had two saves for the Warriors in 64 minutes. Bailey Evans had four in 62 minutes and Caitlin Hollis recorded two in 28 minutes for the Petrels.
Hendrix will return to action on Wednesday night when they host Lyon College at 7 p.m.
