CONWAY, Ark. - In a high-scoring game with changing weather, the Hendrix College women's soccer team dueled Millsaps College to a 4-4 double-overtime tie in the first Southern Athletic Association game of the season on Sunday afternoon.
The visiting Majors (3-7-1, 0-0-1) scored just 1:44 into the game when Kayleigh Redhead's corner kick found Lindy Robichaux for a goal. The Warriors (5-3-2, 0-0-1) tied it up just over two minutes later when freshman midfielder
Vanessa Franco scored after a corner kick was deflected.
Sophomore midfielder
Samantha Lallas put Hendrix up with a penalty kick goal in the 12th minute. The game remained 2-1 until Robichaux scored again, this time on a deflection from the left of the goal in the 56th minute. Lallas assisted a goal by freshman forward
Courtney Jacks who scored from the right after a one-on-one with keeper Elise Davis in the 60th minute.
Hendrix went up 4-2 just 24 seconds later when junior defender
Kacey Hight completed a long pass to freshman
Janie Stultz. The goals were the first in the careers of Jacks and Stultz.
Millsaps cut the deficit to one in the 63rd minute when Taylor Winslow scored. Robichaux completed the hat trick and tied the game at 4-4 on an assist from Madeleine Hendrix.
For the game, the Majors outshot the Warriors 30-11 and 14-6 on goal. Sophomore
Rachel Zweig had three saves in the first half and freshman
Michaela Seltzer had six saves in 65 minutes for Hendrix. Hight was responsible for a team save. Davis had two saves for Millsaps.
Hendrix will take on Central Baptist College at Warrior Field on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
