Hot Shooting Sparks Win Over Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team made 12 three-pointers - seven of which came from sophomore Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler - leading to an 81-67 win on the road at the University of the Ozarks on Tuesday night.

The Warriors' (2-3) three-pointers made was tied for the sixth most in school history. Guare Kriesel-Bigler was one off her own school record of eight outside shots made, tied with Casey Collins. The Austin, Texas product was also one off her career-high, scoring 28 points to go with six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

The Lady Eagles (1-2) and Warriors battled back-and-forth in the first half, with Ozarks taking a 43-42 lead at the half. Hendrix opened the second half with an 18-3 run, going up 60-46 with 11:58 to play. The Lady Eagles cut the deficit to five points, before the Warriors put the game away by pushing the advantage to 13 with three minutes remaining.

For the game, Hendrix shot 38 percent (24-of-63) from the field, 12-of-26 from outside and 21-of-36 at the free throw line. Ozarks shot 44 percent (23-of-52), 4-of-16 from three-point territory and 17-of-34 at the line. The Orange & Black held a big 56-31 rebound advantage.

Senior center Jamie Tate scored 17 points and pulled down 23 rebounds, the third most in school history. The total was the fifth 20-plus rebound game of her career. Junior guard Kati Broberg also had a hot hand from outside, nailing a trio of three-pointers, good for 12 points. She also grabbed six points, tying her career best. Freshman guard Taylor Neal made two outside shots and had 12 points and four assists and freshman forward Anna King added 11 points.

Taylor Farmer led Ozarks with 14 points and eight rebounds. Anisha Johnson had 13 points and Jordana Andrews chipped in eight.

Hendrix will host Austin College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
