MCKINNEY, Texas- The Hendrix College baseball team scored four first-inning runs en route to a 6-4 victory over East Texas Baptist University at the Ballfields at Craig Ranch on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors (2-0) outhit the Tigers (1-1) 10-7 in the game and benefited from ETBU leaving 10 runners on base.
Sophomore first baseman
Ryan Ritz laid down a bunt single to start the bottom of the first for Hendrix. Junior designated hitter
Jacob Perschke followed with a base hit, moving to Ritz to third. Ritz then scored on a wild pitch from ETBU hurler Zach Tampke. Junior

Brady Newville hit an infield single, allowing Perschke to score. After a RBI-groundout from sophomore right fielder

Charlie St. Clair hit a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Newville to score, giving the Warriors a 4-0 lead.
The Tigers cut the lead in half with two runs in the third. Shortstop Lance Anding and left fielder Jeremy Pinder led off with back-to-back singles. Center fielder Tyler Bates followed with a double that plated Anding and Pinder scored on a ground out off the bat of Matt Sullivan.
ETBU made the game 4-3 in the top of the fourth with second baseman Chris Abascal led the frame off by being hit a pitch, stole second and later scored on an Anding hit up the middle.
Hendrix answered with two runs in the fifth when Radack started things off with a double to right field and moved to third on a Newville base hit. Simmons followed with a double down the left field line, allowing Radack to cross home. Freshman shortstop
Brandon Smith reached on an error and knocked in Newville to give the Warriors a 6-3 advantage.
The Tigers added one more run in the sixth when Abascal led the inning off by reaching on catcher 's interference, moved to second on balk and scored on an error.
Ritz went 3-for-4 at the plate for Hendrix and Radack was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. Newville recorded two hits and scored twice and Simmons drove in two, giving him five RBI through two games so far this season.
Pinder had three hits and Anding had two for the Tigers.
On the mound, sophomore
Nick Land (1-0) earned the win, allowing five hits, three runs and two strikeouts over five innings. Freshman
Daniel Imbro picked up the four-inning save, giving up two hits and an unearned run, while fanning three.
Tampke took the loss, lasting four innings and giving up eight hits, four earned runs, two walks and four strikeouts.
Hendrix will wrap up their weekend in Texas on Sunday against Louisiana College.
